Local bank DBS Bank has promised a bigger and better DBS Marina Regatta 2013, which will take place over two weekends - May 18 and 19, and May 24 and 25.

The event will feature a new Bay Festival and Singapore's largest international dragon boat competition. The regatta will also bring numerous social enterprises and family-friendly activities to the Bay, transforming it into a vibrant locale for the community at large to enjoy. Carnival activities planned include a Cosplay festival, which will feature about 100 participants.

This year's dragon boat event has drawn 130 teams from all over the world to compete for cash prizes totalling $195,000 - one of the highest cash prizes in the sport.

Earlier this month, DBS announced that it will be investing $10 million over the next three years to enable people from all walks of life to make the Marina Bay area a lively playground for the public.

One such initiative is to let the public try their hand at sailing in the Marina Bay area free of charge.
