SINGAPORE - A youthful Thai team, with an average age of just 20 years, assured themselves of at least a bronze medal as they advanced to the semi-finals of the SEA Games netball competition with a 71-25 win over Myanmar at the OCBC Arena on Wednesday.

Thailand, who almost suffered a shock upset by Brunei on Tuesday before recovering to win 45-40, were a much improved side as they controlled the game against Myanmar.

Their captain, goalkeeper Siriwan Seenongsaeng, was vital in shutting out Myanmar's captain, goal shooter Kyaw Khin Sandar, who has made 78 per cent of her shots in the entire competition so far.

Myanmar now have the unenviable task of facing hosts Singapore in their last preliminary-round match as they bid to make Saturday's semi-finals.

Myanmar must beat Singapore and hope Brunei lose to the Philippines if they are to make the last four.
