SINGAPORE - Singapore's top tennis player Stefanie Tan won her second career singles title at an International Tennis Federation (ITF) US$10,000 (S$13,500) event in Jakarta on Saturday (Oct 15).

The 24-year-old, who is ranked No. 549 in the world, was the top seed at the tournament and she did not drop a set en route to victory.

In the final, she beat Indonesian Jessy Rompies 6-4, 6-4 to clinch her second singles crown this year, following her maiden triumph in another US$10,000 event in Azerbaijan in June.

An ITF US$10,000 event is the lowest tier in the women's professional tennis circuit.

The victory gives the Singaporean 12 ranking points, which will propel the full-time athlete to a new career-high ranking when the ranking table is published next week.
