The Micromax Indian Aces, who were unbeaten until Wednesday, posted their second consecutive loss in the Coca-Cola International Premier Tennis League on Thursday.
Headlined by Serbia's Ana Ivanovic and Frenchman Gael Monfils, the Aces were beaten 25-20 by a Manila Mavericks side led by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Mark Philippoussis got the Mavericks off to a good start by beating Cedric Pioline 6-4 in the past champions singles match, before Ivanovic won the women's singles match by defeating Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium 6-2.
Daniel Nestor then partnered Flipkens to beat Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza in the mixed doubles 6-2, before Treat Huey and Tsonga won the men's doubles match-up by beating Bopanna and Monfils 6-2.
Monfils threatened to force a super shoot-out when he led in the men's singles and beat Tsonga 6-5, but was unable to take his team into the super shoot-out.
Said Tsonga: "There was bit of pressure. I had to contain Gael, who was playing so well."
The DBS Singapore Slammers are due to take on the Musafir.com UAE Royals later on Thursday.
