Former world No.1 Andre Agassi is pencilled in for all three days of the Singapore leg of the Coca-Cola International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), which starts on Tuesday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The two Americans are set to headline the DBS Singapore Slammers when they take on teams from the Micromax Indian Aces, UAE Royals and Manila Mavericks.

Agassi will play his first match of the IPTL against Australian Mark Philippoussis in the men's legends singles, while Williams is set to take on Belgian Kirsten Flipkens in the women's singles. The Czech Republic's Tomas Berdych, the world No. 7, will play Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France (No. 12) in the men's singles.

Said Berdych at a pre-event press conference held at the Shangri-La Hotel on Monday evening: "It's been three great days in Manila... all the aspects with the format, the fun we have on court, and the spectators that came out. I enjoyed myself and I'm really looking forward to playing in Singapore."

The IPTL is the brainchild of Indian doubles player Mahesh Bhupathi, and takes inspiration from the wildly popular Indian Premier League cricket series.

The mixed-team tennis tournament opened in Manila over the weekend, and will move on to Mumbai (Dec 6-8) and Dubai (Dec 11-13) after Singapore.

Top players such as Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova have signed up, although they are not playing the away leg for their respective teams in Singapore.

The tournament will be played in a shorter and quicker format of tennis, introducing innovations such as a shot clock, a "power point" and shoot-outs.

Tickets are available through SportsHubTix.
