S'pore Tennis Festival provides a month-long hit

The season-ending BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global may still be three weeks away, but the Singapore Tennis Festival was launched yesterday to drum up excitement for the event.

The Oct 1-31 festival will feature more than 35 events - including tennis-themed carnival competitions, clinics and try-outs - to be held at Heartbeat@Bedok Tennis Centre, Kallang Tennis Centre, Farrer Park Tennis Centre and various sports halls.

There will also be a Singapore Tennis Festival Experience Tour at the Sports Hub during the WTA Finals week from Oct 22-29.

Participants will be able to watch the players in action and take part in activities such as Virtual Tennis, play tennis with Team Singapore athletes, or be taught the basics of the sport.

The Singapore Tourism Board is also organising Courtside@Chijmes, a slew of lifestyle activities through the duration of the Finals.

Beside hosting the WTA Finals doubles draw, Chijmes will also see tennis-themed events such as a morning fitness workout, a health and wellness bazaar, and a kids' carnival.

Tournament ticket-holders will enjoy promotional deals from food and beverage outlets at Chijmes.
