SINGAPORE - Over 200 children took part in this year's Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) - PAP Community Foundation (PCF) Table Tennis Carnival and the Republic's top men's player Gao Ning made a special appearance on the carnival's last day on Tuesday (Sept 20) at One KM mall.

The STTA collaborated with PCF kindergartens since 2009 to introduce table tennis lessons to K 1 and 2 children; with the aim of arousing their interest and teaching them the basic skills of the sport. Promising individuals are invited to the STTA zone training centres for further training.

Since the programme's inception, over 6,000 young children have been exposed to the sport.

The STTA-PCF table tennis programme graduates were also invited back for an invitational friendly competition held during the carnival. Gao Ning, a three-time Olympian (2008, 2012 and 2016), took part in an exhibition match with programme graduate Andy Wong on Tuesday.
