Table tennis: 2 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronzes for S'pore at South-east Asian Junior C'ships

Singapore's young paddlers have bagged two more golds, a silver and two bronzes at the ongoing South-east Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships in Manila.

Clarence Chew and Kerry Tan beat Tran Hoai Nam and Le Tuan Anh, defeating the Vietnamese 11-5, 11-7, 12-10 for the Under-18 boys' doubles title.

Lin Ye and Yee Herng Hwee followed up with a 3-1 victory in the Under-18 girls' doubles final, beating Malaysia's Ho Ying and Lee Rou You 7-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-3.

The same Malaysian pair had beaten Singapore's other pair, Cheryl Tang and Lim Yixuan, earlier. Cheryl and Yixuan settled for the bronze after losing 8-11, 11-7, 5-11, 11-13 in the semi-finals.

Despite having a two-game lead in the U-15 boys' doubles final, Darren Loy and Maxxe Tay were defeated by Thailand's Puangthip Sirawit and Moungwhan Chaiyadej 11-6, 11-9, 7-11, 10-12, 9-11.

Ang Wan Qi and Gladys Wong accounted for the Republic's other bronze, losing to Angelina Tang and Amanda Wong of Malaysia 11-9, 9-11, 9-11, 11-7, 12-14 in the U-15 girls' doubles semi-finals.

The annual competition ends on Tuesday. Singapore had earlier won two team golds and two team silvers.
