Ashley breaks 2 more meet records

Eight meet records were broken on the second day of the China Life 48th Singapore National Age Group Swimming Championships at the OCBC Aquatic Centre yesterday.

Ashley Lim , who shattered the 12-and-under 100m butterfly meet record on Friday, continued her dominant streak in the pool, swimming her way to two more records - the 50m butterfly (30.19sec) and the 200m individual medley (2min 27.88sec).


Dzoni's goal enough to win it for the Stags

S-League title contenders Tampines Rovers notched a 1-0 win over Balestier Khalsa at the Toa Payoh Stadium last night. Ivan Dzoni got the winner for the Stags in the 50th minute, as both sides were reduced to 10 men with Sheikh Abdul Hadi and Jamil Ali sent off in stoppage time.

At Hougang Stadium, hosts Hougang United beat the Garena Young Lions 2-0 courtesy of goals from Fareez Farhan (45th minute) and Fumiya Kogure (63rd).


3-set matches not solution, says Nadal

INDIAN WELLS (California) • The introduction of best-of-three set matches in the Davis Cup will not be enough to halt the drain of top talent from the 117-year-old world tennis tournament, according to Rafael Nadal.

The Spanish 14-time Grand Slam champion believes having a Davis Cup champion every year "devalues the competition" and it should be held every three years.

PSG fan kills friend over mockery

LIBREVILLE • A Paris Saint-Germain fan in Gabon killed his friend after getting fed up with being mocked about the French football club's Champions League defeat by Barcelona over post-match drinks.

The 18-year-old stabbed his friend in the neck after watching the match late on Wednesday in Libreville.
