Young Lions stun Tampines 1-0

•Tampines Rovers' S-League title ambitions took yet another hit after they were handed a 1-0 defeat by the Courts Young Lions at the Jurong West Stadium last night.

Anumanthan Kumar's 16th-minute effort was enough to condemn V.Sundramoorthy's side to their first league loss in three matches. Tampines are eight points behind league leaders Brunei DPMM, albeit with a game in hand.

In last night's other match at Malacca's Hang Jebat Stadium, defending champions Warriors FC were held to a 2-2 draw by Harimau Muda.

Woods back in early 2016 after surgery

NEW YORK • Tiger Woods will not play golf again

this year, after undergoing back surgery for the second time in two years. The process, a microdiscectomy, is the same as the one he underwent in March last year, to remove a small disc fragment that was pinching his nerve.

The surgery took place in Utah last Wednesday and the American was discharged the next day.

Woods, 39, will miss only a few minor tournaments. The 14-time Major champion, now ranked 283rd in the world, is expected to return to the PGA Tour early next year. THE GUARDIAN
