Watch Copa America on Singtel channels

Singtel announced yesterday that it has secured broadcast rights for the June 3-26 Copa America which will be held in the United States.

For Singtel customers who sign up for or renew their Trio , Variety or Value packs for two years, the football tournament will be available for free on channels 141 and 142.

Those who sign up or renew their mio Stadium+ pack will have access to the matches only through the Singtel TV GO app, which is free to download.


Fifa chief confirms Qatar as 2022 host

DOHA • Gianni Infantino on his first visit to Qatar as Fifa president insisted that the 2022 football World Cup would be hosted there as planned.

He also announced that football's world governing body will establish a committee to monitor working conditions for labourers at Qatar's World Cup stadiums.

MILAN • AC Milan were left red-faced amid a social media backlash that mocked the Italian football club for a bizarre pre-match "haka" ritual before a Serie A game against Carpi on Thursday.

Fans were left baffled when two "teams" of players - dressed to look like Milan and Carpi - appeared on the pitch and the fake Milan team proceeded to perform a "haka".

Ronaldo to be fit for clash with City

MADRID • Three-time World Footballer of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo suffered only a thigh strain after limping off in Real Madrid's 3-0 win over Villarreal in midweek, the club confirmed yesterday.

However, widespread reports in the Spanish sports press said he will miss today's trip to Rayo Vallecano, but will be fit for Real's Champions League semi-final, first leg away to Manchester City on Tuesday.

Wizards agree terms with coach Brooks

WASHINGTON • The National Basketball Association side Washington Wizards have agreed terms with Scott Brooks to become their new coach, according to reports on Thursday.

The two sides agreed on a five-year, US$35 million (S$47 million) contract.

CHIBA • Singapore golfers Mardan Mamat and Lam Chih Bing failed to make the cut at the Panasonic Open Golf Championship in Chiba, near Tokyo, yesterday. At eight-under 134, Japan's Kodai Ichihara leads the event at the Chiba Country Club by a shot from Indian Shiv Kapur.
