Uncapped trio called up by Brazil coach

LONDON • Brazil coach Tite has called up the uncapped trio of Real Sociedad forward Willian Jose, Besiktas midfielder Talisca and Valencia goalkeeper Neto for friendlies against Russia and Germany on March 23 and March 27 respectively.

They were included in a 25-man squad in what will be Tite's last chance to test his players before naming a 23-strong list for the World Cup in Russia. The Selecao face Switzerland in their first group match on June 17.

England can bounce back, says Jones

LONDON • Manager Eddie Jones believes England can learn from the experience and bounce back from two "very painful" defeats which ended England's two-year Six Nations reign.

The 58-year-old Australian said defeat "was an essential part of developing a great team". Newly-crowned champions Ireland are bidding to seal only their third grand slam at Twickenham on Saturday, but England are yet to lose at home under Jones.

Hughes front runner to replace Pellegrino

LONDON • Mark Hughes is the leading candidate to succeed Mauricio Pellegrino as Southampton manager after the Argentinian was sacked on Monday, following a dire run of results that has left the Saints one point above the Premier League's relegation zone.

Welshman Hughes was sacked by Stoke in January with the Potters then in the bottom three. Southampton still have to face league leaders Manchester City and Chelsea in their remaining eight fixtures.
