BERLIN • Kenyan favourite Eliud Kipchoge shrugged off footwear problems to win the Berlin Marathon yesterday in a personal-best time of 2hr 4min 1sec.

The 30-year-old proved a master of the flat, inner-city course, regarded as the fastest in the world, even as his insoles slipped out of his shoes early in the race. He won ahead of fellow Kenyan Eliud Kiptanui and Ethiopia's Feyisa Lilesa.

Napoli double piles problems on Juve

MILAN • Goals by Lorenzo Insigne and Gonazalo Higuain saw Napoli to a 2-1 win over Juventus on Saturday and compounded the Italian champions' poor start to the Serie A season.

Juventus had earned their only points from a win and two draws and fell to their third defeat of the season.
