Thunder star Durant on track for NBA return

OKLAHOMA CITY • Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant, who underwent three surgeries in six months on his right foot, has been cleared for full participation in the National Basketball Association team's training camp.

Richardson retires after 14 NBA seasons

LOS ANGELES • Jason Richardson, one of the greatest dunk specialists in league history, announced his retirement on Wednesday after 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association.

Richardson spent his most productive years with the Golden State Warriors, where he blossomed into a 20-point scorer. He played six seasons with Golden State, then joined the Phoenix Suns after two years in Charlotte.

Klitschko blasts Fury's Batman stunt

LONDON • World heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko blasted Tyson Fury as a "clown" on Wednesday after his British title rival arrived at a news conference dressed as Batman.

Fury, who will take on the Ukrainian in Dusseldorf on October 24 for the WBA, WBO and IBF titles, burst into the room at a London hotel dressed as the Caped Crusader.

Top China sports official expelled amid probe

BEIJING • The vice chairman of China's national Olympic committee has been expelled from the ruling Communist Party after a corruption probe, the organisation's anti-graft body said yesterday, weeks after the country won the right to host the 2022 Winter Olympics.

GUANGZHOU • Denisa Allertova of the Czech Republic defeated top seed Simona Halep in straight sets in the WTA Guangzhou International Women's Open quarter-finals yesterday.
