S'pore skaters come 2nd, 5th, 6th in China

SHANGHAI • Singapore's Nur Azyan Azman took second place yesterday in the women's street skate event at the inaugural Asian Skateboarding Championships. She posted 54.07 points to finish behind Japan's Aori Nishimura (81.02). Taiwanese Chang Yu-ting (45.91) was third.

Feroze Rahman was fifth in the men's event, scoring 69.73. Japan's Kaede Yoshikawa was first with 88.70. In the mixed park invitational competition, Farris Rahman was sixth. The three-day competition ended yesterday.

Slingers make it two wins to start season

LAGUNA • The Singapore Slingers notched their second win in as many games of the new Asean Basketball League season with a 71-66 win over Alab Pilipinas yesterday at the Alonte Sports Arena in Binan, the Philippines. The Slingers' next game is away at Saigon Heat on Dec 3.

Slorach seven strokes behind winner Catlin

Singaporean golfer Mitchell Slorach carded his second straight even-par 71 to finish fifth with a nine-under 275 at the US$60,000 (S$86,000) Combiphar Golf Invitational in Bogor, Indonesia.

American John Catlin closed with a 67 for a 268 total to seal his maiden Asian Development Tour win.

Tai and Ng claim titles at Hong Kong Open

HONG KONG • World No. 3 Tai Tzu-ying won badminton's Hong Kong Open women's singles yesterday, beating India's P.V. Sindhu 21-15, 21-17.

The men's singles was claimed by Hong Kong's Angus Ng, who nabbed his first superseries title by beating India's Sameer Verma 21-14, 10-21, 21-11.
