S'pore get memorable wins at Asian 7s Series

COLOMBO • The Singapore men's and women's rugby teams finished joint-eighth and joint-seventh respectively in the final leg of the Asian Sevens Series in Sri Lanka over the weekend.

The highlight for the men was a 24-19 win over SEA Games gold medallists Philippines, while the women beat the hosts 17-14.


Xavi would have liked to play in the EPL

LONDON• • Former Barcelona playmaker Xavi Hernandez has admitted that he would have liked to play in the English Premier League.

The 35-year-old added that he would probably have chosen Manchester United over Liverpool, if the chance had ever come.

Kyrgios warned for using foul language

SHANGHAI• • Controversial Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios was awarded a code violation warning at the Shanghai Masters yesterday, after he vented his annoyance at court-side photographers with an audible obscenity.

However, he still managed to beat Germany's Andreas Haider-Maurer 6-3, 6-2.
