S'pore 3rd as Malaysia take Asian netball title

BANGKOK • Singapore's netballers clinched the bronze medal at the Asian Netball Championship after a close fight with Hong Kong yesterday afternoon.

The defending champions overcame their opponents 34-27 to finish third while Malaysia defeated Sri Lanka 41-31 to seize the championship for the first time since 1985.


Ng and Goh tops in short track skating

The Singapore National Short Track Speed Skating Championships concluded yesterday, with Lucas Ng and Cheyenne Goh sweeping the golds in the 500m, 1,000m and 1,500m Senior Men and Junior A Ladies events respectively.

Ng, 27, is ranked 38th in the world, which makes him the region's top short track skater, while Goh's 500m time (49.616sec) earned her a spot on the national team. In all, 27 skaters competed over the weekend at The Rink @ JCube.
