Slammers retain IPTL title in win over Aces

HYDERABAD • The OUE Singapore Slammers beat the Indian Aces yesterday to retain their International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) title.

Despite being without any marquee players this season after the IPTL was unable to secure the appearance of Serena Williams, the Slammers won all five matches in the tie for a decisive 30-14 win.

The team were led in the final against the Aces by former world No. 1 Carlos Moya and Australia's Nick Kyrgios.

Hend wins Asian Tour's Order of Merit

HONG KONG•Scott Hend secured the Asian Tour's Order of Merit crown at the season-ending UBS Hong Kong Open yesterday, becoming the first Australian to win the title and the fourth player to surpass US$1 million (S$1.43 million) in earnings in a single season.

He carded a four-over 74 to total one-over 281 and increase his season haul to US$1,004,792.

The tournament was won by Australian world No. 480 Sam Brazel, who beat Spaniard Rafa Cabrera Bello - ranked 447 places above him - by one shot. He carded a 68 to total 267. Bello had a 69 and 268.
