Ser fifth in 3-positions at World Cup
National shooter Jasmine Ser has missed out on a second medal at the World Cup in Bangkok. The 25-year-old finished fifth in the eight-woman elimination final in the 50m three-positions yesterday afternoon.
She totalled 422.7 points in the final, which was won by German Jolyn Beer (455.9), ahead of Snjezana Pejcic of Croatia (454.5) and Zhang Binbin of China (444.0).
Ser had earlier won her first World Cup medal on Thursday in the 10m air rifle. The Bangkok leg is the first of four stops in the World Cup series, followed by Rio next month.
Ambassadors for Cold Storage Run
The Cold Storage Kids Run will have two children as ambassadors for its ninth edition this year. Iryan Fandi, 10, son of local football legend Fandi Ahmad, and local columnist Neil Humphreys' daughter, Abbie Rose, seven, have been announced as ambassadors for the run, which will be held in May.
Manning confirms retirement
LOS ANGELES • Peyton Manning, 39, has confirmed his retirement from the National Football League, the Denver Broncos said yesterday, bringing the curtain down on an 18-year career. He became the oldest quarterback to win the Super Bowl on Feb 8.
