Schweinsteiger may return to Bayern Munich

BERLIN • Bastian Schweinsteiger has been told there could be a place for him back at Bayern Munich in the wake of his fall from grace at Manchester United.

Schweinsteiger turned 32 on Monday, the same day he had his locker in United's first-team dressing room cleared out and was ordered to train with the reserves by new United boss Jose Mourinho.

Wales snub Hull offer for in-demand Coleman

LONDON • The Football Association of Wales has rejected an approach from Hull City for Chris Coleman.

Coleman took Wales to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 and said afterwards he planned to leave after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

S'pore Slingers will take on Yao Ming's Sharks

The Singapore Slingers are set to face the Yao Ming-owned Shanghai Sharks, having been drawn in the same group in next month's Merlion Cup.

The Cup, back after a 20-year hiatus, will take place from Sept 21 to 25 at the OCBC Arena.
