Jordan quits Clippers for Mavericks

Spain fires Davis Cup captain Leon
MADRID • The new president of the Spanish tennis federation, Fernando Fernandez-Ladreda, has fired the nation's first female Davis Cup captain, Gala Leon, two weeks before the Group I second- round tie with Russia.
Leon was a surprise choice to replace Carlos Moya, who stood down last year after the five-time winners were relegated from the World Group following defeat by Brazil in a play-off.

Webb faces more corruption charges
VANCOUVER • Suspended Fifa vice-president Jeffrey Webb has been charged in a healthcare fraud case in his native Cayman Islands.
The football official is currently detained in Switzerland, after being arrested and indicted by the FBI last month. He faces an extradition request from the United States in relation to the football corruption charges.

Fraser-Pryce opts out of world 200m event
PARIS • Jamaican sprint star Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce on Friday said she will not defend her 200m title at the World Championships next month, and will just race the 100m.
However, the 28-year-old insisted that she will defend both her 100m and 200m golds at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics next year.

Pakistan fails to qualify in hockey for Rio Games
KARACHI • Pakistan mourned the failure of their men's hockey team to qualify for next year's Olympics, describing it as one of the blackest days in the country.
The three-time Olympic gold medallists lost 0-1 to Ireland in the World Hockey League in Antwerp, Belgium, which serves as a qualifying round for the Rio Games.
