McIlroy fully fit, ready for US Open

LONDON • World No. 2 golfer Rory McIlroy has recovered from a rib injury that has kept him out of action since the middle of last month and has declared himself fit to compete at next week's US Open, the 28-year-old said.

The Northern Irishman picked up the injury earlier this year and suffered a recurrence during last month's Players Championship.

He won the 2011 US Open by eight strokes and will be seeking his second title in the event.
