KUALA LUMPUR • Both Singapore golfers at the Maybank Championship in Malaysia squeezed into weekend play yesterday.
Koh Deng Shan just made the one-under 141 cut after rounds of 69 and 72.
Mardan Mamat ended a shot better after identical rounds of 70, to stay 11 strokes behind halfway leader Nathan Holman of Australia, who had a 65 to add to an opening 64.
Blatter blasts media for trying to 'kill' him
LONDON • Sepp Blatter has criticised the media's attempts to "kill" him amid the ongoing Fifa corruption probe, but has admitted regret at the football governing body's inadequate vetting of its executive committee members.
In an interview with BFM TV, the suspended Fifa president also lamented his so-called defencelessness, repeating that the current situation would not have arisen if the 2022 World Cup had been awarded to the United States.

Bilic 'gutted' by Carroll's groin injury
LONDON • West Ham manager Slaven Bilic said he is "gutted" after confirming that Andy Carroll's latest injury is likely to keep him out for two weeks.
The striker felt a problem in his groin while he was warming up against Norwich City last Saturday.
Although he came off the bench to help West Ham fight back from 0-2 down and rescue a point at Carrow Road, he is set to miss tomorrow's visit to Blackburn Rovers in the fifth round of the FA Cup and league matches against Sunderland, Tottenham and Everton.

PARIS • Cameroon star Samuel Eto'o on Thursday succeeded in having a tell-all book written by his former girlfriend banned by the High Court of Paris, but the editor confirmed that they have appealed against the decision.

Diack's son quizzed by Senegal police
DAKAR • The authorities in Senegal have questioned the son of the former head of the IAAF, the world athletics body, a police source said, one month after Interpol issued an international warrant for his arrest for alleged corruption and money laundering.
Papa Massata Diack, a former marketing consultant to the IAAF and son of former IAAF president Lamine Diack, was banned from the sport for life last month for his part in blackmailing an elite Russian athlete after helping to cover up her positive dope test.
