PERTH • Mardan Mamat shot his third-straight three-under 69 to stand joint sixth on 207 at the Perth International golf tournament.

But Singapore's No. 1 had an up-and-down day, mixing one eagle (on the par-four 14th) and four birdies with three bogeys at Lake Karrinyup Country Club. He is six strokes behind leader Louis Oosthuizen (67), the 2010 British Open champion from South Africa.

Schooling wins 100 yards fly

AUSTIN • Swimmer Joseph Schooling won gold in the 100 yards butterfly at the Big 12 Championships in Texas on Friday.

He clocked 44.62sec to beat his University of Texas team-mates Jack Conger (45.28) and Will Glass (46.01s). The 20-year-old Singaporean's effort was the sixth-fastest time in US history.

S'pore to kick off TRI-Factor series

•The 2016-2017 TRI-Factor Series Asian Championship was launched yesterday and will see the triathlon competition hosted in eight locations in Asia, including China, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea.
