Kone's treble sparks rout of Sunderland
•LIVERPOOL • Arouna Kone grabbed a hat-trick as Everton piled on the Premier League relegation worries for Sam Allardyce's Sunderland with a 6-2 demolition job at Goodison Park yesterday.
Everton's victory lifted them to eighth in the table with 16 points from 11 games.
Sunderland remained second from bottom on six points.

Dubuisson triumphs, McIlroy ties for sixth
ANTALYA (Turkey) • Frenchman Victor Dubuisson won the Turkish Airlines Open for the second time in three years yesterday while Rory McIlroy could only manage a joint-sixth placing.
Dubuisson shot a six-under 66 for a 22-under total of 266 at the European Tour event. South African Jaco van Zyl (67) totalled 267, one ahead of third-placed Thai Kiradech Aphibarnrat (67). World No. 3 McIlroy carded a 71 for 272.

American Pharoah bows out a winner
LOS ANGELES• • American Pharoah, who electrified US horse racing with his run to the first Triple Crown sweep in 37 years, capped his career with an emphatic victory in the Breeders' Cup Classic in Kentucky on Saturday.
He beat Effinex by 61/2 lengths in the US$5 million (S$7 million) classic. It was the ninth win in 11 career starts for the three-year-old colt.

Marquez in scuffle with Italian journalists
MADRID • MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez has reported two Italian journalists to Spanish police after a scuffle broke out at the rider's home in the Catalan town of Cervera on Friday.
Reporters from Le Iene (The Hyenas) programme targeted Marquez in the aftermath of his high-profile crash with nine-time Italian world champion Valentino Rossi.
Marquez was kicked off his bike by Rossi at the Malaysian Grand Prix last month.
