Kobe won't try to make Olympic squad
LOS ANGELES • KobeBryant, who is retiring after 20 years with the Los Angeles Lakers at the end of the National Basketball Association season, said on Saturday that he has given up on his dream of making a competitive farewell to basketball at this year's Rio Olympics.
The 37-year-old, who won gold in Beijing and London , told reporters that he intends to bow out in Lakers colours.

Paradorn's golf dream halted
BANGKOK• • Former Thaitennis star Paradorn Srichaphan, 36, has failed to break into professional golf, after he was cut from the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q School) following the second round.
The former top-10 tennis player, who also had a stint as a Buddhist monk, was playing in Q School for the first time after earlier bids to launch his golf career fell flat.

Singapore beat Malaysia 3-2 to win the SEA Cup mixed-team squash event in Naypyitaw, Myanmar.
