S-League leaders Albirex Niigata were held 1-1 away to Home United yesterday. The visitors opened the scoring in the third minute through Naofumi Tanaka before Adam Swandi equalised in the 71st minute.

In another match, Hougang United beat Brunei DPMM 4-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Fumiya Kogure and a 76th-minute strike from Iqbal Hamid Hussain. Rafael Ramazotti netted the only goal for hosts Brunei in the 74th minute.


Bayern hit by Neuer blow with 'keeper out till Jan

MUNICH • Bayern Munich have confirmed their captain and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will be out until January, having undergone another operation yesterday after again fracturing his left foot.

The 31-year-old had only returned at the end of August after fracturing the same foot in April. Sven Ulreich will deputise between the sticks for Bayern in his absence.

Fracture can't keep Rossi from getting back on bike

MILAN• Italian motorcycling ace Valentino Rossi has returned to training just 18 days after suffering a double leg fracture, his Movistar Yahama team said.

Rossi underwent surgery in Ancona on Sept 1, a day after a crash in training, and discharged himself from the hospital the following day. The 38-year-old rode his first couple of laps around the Misano circuit on Monday before the session was cut short by rain, his team said.
