Cops catch Rodriguez speeding at 200kmh

MADRID • Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez was caught by police driving at 200kmh on his way to a training session, media reports said on Friday.

AS.com said the Colombian was chased to the training ground gates by an unmarked police car that had signalled repeatedly for him to pull over. The speed limit on the roads he used was 120kmh.

Rodriguez could face a fine and have his licence taken away, as happened to team-mate Karim Benzema last year.

Garde vows to stay at Villa even if they drop

LONDON • Aston Villa manager Remi Garde insists he will not quit even if the club are relegated from the English Premier League.

Villa are rooted to the bottom of the table and are favourites to drop out of the top flight for the first time since 1987.

But the former Lyon boss, who took over in November, says he is willing to stay to guide Villa out of the Championship if they are relegated because he is sure the club will still want him.
