Chelsea confirm Falcao loan move

MONACO • Colombian international football striker Radamel Falcao will join English Premier League champions Chelsea on a one-season loan.

French side Monaco said that the Blues have a "buy option" for the 29-year-old , who endured a disappointing loan stint at Manchester United last season.

Tsunami survivor signs for Sporting

LISBON • An Indonesian teenager who was found alive wearing a Portugal football shirt with the name of Cristiano Ronaldo on the back after the devastating tsunami of December 2004 has signed for Sporting Lisbon.

Martunis, 17, will join the Sporting football academy that groomed Ronaldo at the start of the last decade.

Parrot predicts victory for Japanese women

Olivia, a 10-year-old grey parrot in Tochigi Prefecture, has perfectly predicted all six wins for Japan in Canada and indicated the Asian side will down the Americans in the final in Vancouver.

Ex-All Black Muliaina in the dock in Wales

WELLINGTON • British police have charged former All Blacks rugby star Mils Muliaina with sexual assault over an incident in Cardiff four months ago.

The 34-year-old full-back, who won 100 caps for the All Blacks over a nine-year period, was charged after being interviewed by South Wales Police on Wednesday.
