SMRT travel advisory for Formula One SingTel Singapore Grand Prix

SMRT has announced that it will be extending its train, LRT and bus feeder services over the Formula One SingTel Singapore Grand Prix weekend of Sept 20-22.

With widespread road closures around the Marina Bay Street Circuit area from Sept 18-23, the public transport operator is encouraging commuters to get to their destinations via surrounding MRT stations such as City Hall, Raffles Place, Nicoll Highway, Promenade, Bayfront and Esplanade.

There will also be additional train trips in anticipation of high demand, with the last North-, South-, East- and West-bound trains to leave City Hall MRT station at 1.11am.

Correspondingly, Choa Chu Kang's LRT service will be extended till 2.10am, after the arrival of the last MRT train.

Selected bus feeder services will also be extended in Bukit Batok (2.15am), Choa Chu Kang (2.10am), Woodlands (1.55am), Sembawang (2am) and Yishun (2.05am).

SMRT also announced the following extensions to its Circle Line services:

The last train bound for HarbourFront station will leave Dhoby Ghaut station at 12.40am.

The last train bound for Tai Seng station will leave Promenade station at 12.57am.

The last train bound for both Caldecott and Dhoby Ghaut stations will leave Promenade station at 1.00am.

Over the race weekend, there will be a $5 surcharge for taxi rides beginning at any one of the 12 taxi stands and seven hotel driveways surrounding the circuit, at certain times of the day.
