MOSCOW (AFP) - Russia's freestyle skiing federation has banned national champion Anna Orlovskaya for two years for a doping offence, the official site of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (Rusada) said.
The Rusada statement did not specify the details of her violation, labelling it as "a breach of anti-doping rules".
The ban on the 18-year-old, who won the national titles in slope-style and ski half-pipe last year, came into effect on Nov 19.
It means that she will miss the 2014 Olympics, dealing a serious blow to Russian sports officials ahead of the Sochi Games.
Last month, the head of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach issued a warning that "a positive drugs test would overshadow the achievement of any team at Sochi 2014".
The Olympic supremo also promised that the anti-doping programme at Sochi would be the toughest in the history of the Olympic Games, with 50 per cent more samples due to be tested than at the previous Winter Olympics at Vancouver in 2010.
