SINGAPORE - The Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) raised more than a million dollars through a golf event held on Friday (Sept 22) at Sentosa Golf Club's Serapong Course.

Over $588,000 was raised through private corporations and individuals, the most the STTA has been able to gather at the biennial event.

The money will go towards the STTA's youth development programmes, sports excellence plans and operational costs.

Said STTA president Ellen Lee: "The STTA is fully committed to (realising) our dreams in growing the sport, and building the next generation of table tennis talents. All the donations will provide invaluable resources for STTA to nurture our professional athletes, grow the youth development programmes and encourage more Singaporeans to take up table tennis.

"However, the STTA still need a lot more if we are to continue growing the sport of table tennis in Singapore and the STTA will continue to seek meaningful partnerships with other companies in various industries to develop our sport."
