SINGAPORE - Team Singapore completed a sweep of both floorball golds as they beat Thailand in the men's and women's final in front of a capacity crowd of 1,200 at the ITE College Central on Sunday.

The Republic's women's team started the ball rolling in dramatic fashion. They prevailed 2-1 in a thrilling penalty shoot-out, having battled to a 3-3 draw after full-time and 10 minutes of sudden death extra-time. Goalkeeper Fariza Begum saved the day by keeping out four of five penalties, while Jill Quek and Natalia Wee scored for Singapore.

The men's team next made it a double triumph when they routed Thailand 9-0 in a comprehensive win.

The hosts waited until a minute before the end of the first period to open the scoring through Rashid Jalaluddin but the floodgates were opened after that.

Alvin Tan made it 2-0 two minutes after the restart. Abdul Hadiz Zubir and Lim Jian Hong added two more in the second period to make it 4-0.

Singapore did not relent in the third and final period, scoring five goals to wrap up victory. R. Suria, Mckenrick Lim, Siraaj Ramadhan (two) and captain Syazni Ramlee all got on the scoresheet to wrap up the victory.
