SINGAPORE - The Republic's men's water polo team continued their fine start to the SEA Games tournament, beating Thailand 17-2 on Friday evening at the OCBC Aquatic Centre.
Singapore had narrowly triumphed over Thailand 8-5 two years ago in Napyitaw, but it was a much more straightforward affair this time around.
Up by four goals by the first quarter, the team dominated Thailand through tight defence and fast, accurate shots, never allowing Thailand an easy sniff at Nigel Tay's goal.
They will now meet the Philippines on Sunday at 8pm for their third round-robin match in the five-team tournament.
