SINGAPORE - Shooter Teo Shun Xie won a bronze in the women's 10m air pistol event at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup in Rio de Janeiro early Monday morning, clinching her first podium finish at a world event.

The SEA Games and Commonwealth Games champion was competing in her first World Cup final, posting a score of 178.0 to take third place.

She finished behind three-time Olympic medallist Olena Kostevych of Ukraine (201.7) and Bulgaria's Antoaneta Boneva (197.7).

The achievement makes Teo, 27, the frontrunner to be confirmed as Singapore's representative at the Olympic Games in August. She had earned a quota place in the women's 25m pistol event through the Asian qualifier in February.
