THE Singapore sepak takraw men's team are in the quarter-finals of the Istaf Super Series Thailand in Bangkok, helped by a no-show from Indonesia.
They and the United States were the remaining sides in Group C, with both assured of last-eight slots. They ended up playing each other twice as a result, with the US winning 15-7, 15-11 on Thursday and Singapore edging it 15-9, 17-16 on Friday.
But the Americans' better points difference meant they top the group and consign Singapore to a quarter-final on Saturday against hosts and world No.1 Thailand. The US play Iran in arguably the weakest of the ties, while South Korea face Japan and Malaysia take on China.
