SINGAPORE - Singapore won its first squash gold medal of the SEA Games in the men's jumbo doubles event on Monday evening, ending a 20-year drought for the sport since 1995.
Marcus Phua and Vivian Rhamanan won 11-3, 11-8 against Indonesia's Ade Furkon and Sandi A. Perdana at the Tanglin Club to clinch the gold.
The pair, together with teammates Samuel Kang and Bryan Loh, had missed out on a gold on Saturday, when they lost two consecutive sets to Malaysia in the men's team doubles.
The last time squash was featured in the Games was in 2007, in Thailand.
