SEA Games: OCBC, UnionPay release commemorative pre-paid cards

SPORTING fans can soon buy limited-edition pre-paid cards released specially for the SEA Games, adding to the list of commemorative items as Singapore hosts the regional competition for the fourth time.

In partnership with UnionPay, OCBC Bank unveiled six pre-paid card designs that will go on sale from Friday. Two of the designs feature the official Games mascot Nila and will be sold at $5 more than the individual stored values of $50 and $100.

The other four cards, which feature bowling, football, swimming and table tennis, will be sold as a set at $28, with a stored value of $5 each. The cards are for one-time use and cannot be topped up.

The cards can be used to buy snacks, drinks and Games merchandise at the Singapore Sports Hub, said Desmond Tan, head of OCBC's Group Lifestyle Financing.

"On top of that, these cards - specially designed to reflect the symbolic features of the Games - are good keepsakes. After all, it has been 22 years since Singapore hosted the SEA Games," he added.

Fans who use the cards during the Games can expect discounts on ticket prices, merchandise and food and drinks.

OCBC card members will receive $5 off their purchase of these cards from May 25-29 at the OCBC Centre.
