Shoppers in Orchard Road were treated to a new retail outlet on Saturday with the launch of the first official merchandise store for the 28th SEA Games.

Located outside Wisma Atria, the store will sell official SEA Games merchandise - ranging from shirts, mugs, bags and collectible pins - manufactured by official merchandising partner Sportz and Fitness Team, as well as acrylic paintings and tote bags done by trainees at the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (Minds).

The store will also sell a set of 50 limited edition pins, each uniquely designed to represent the 11 participating countries and 36 sports that will take place during the Games, which will be held in Singapore from June 5-16.

Proceeds from the sale of various items will go to non-profit organisations such as SportCares Foundation, Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, Singapore Corporation of Rehabilitative Enterprises, Singapore Association Of The Visually Handicapped and MINDS.

Said Lim Teck Yin, chairman of the Singapore South-east Asian Games Organising Committee: "We are very proud to partner these local organisations that have been helping the less privileged, to give back to the community through the Games. In this way, more people have an opportunity to play a part in helping worthy causes through the Games."
