SEA Games: Malaysia netballers beat Brunei's Royal Bees 82-24 to make semi-finals

SINGAPORE - Malaysia's netballers attacked their way to the SEA Games semi-finals on Wednesday, beating Brunei 82-24.

Led by top scorer Norashikin Kamalzaman, who scored 69 goals, Malaysia's attacking precision proved too much for the relatively inexperienced Bruneians.

Malaysia outscored their opponents in each quarter by at least 10 goals, although the Bruneians, who are nicknamed the Royal Bees, made a spirited attempt at a comeback in the third quarter, scoring 10 goals themselves.

Malaysian captain Yap Suo Kuen said that Tuesday's 35-35 draw against Singappore was a boost to the team's confidence, adding that they would go all out to finish top of the six-team competition.

"As defending champions, we're very confident that we can get the gold," she added.

Malaysia, who are expected to contest the final with hosts Singapore, will play Thailand on Thursday in their final preliminary-round match.
