SINGAPORE - About 500 athletes and officials were part of a post-SEA Games celebration held at the Istana Garden Party on Monday evening, where their feats at the biennial Games were toasted.

The event was also attended by President Tony Tan Keng Yam, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Social and Family Development Tan Chuan-Jin, who is also president of the Singapore National Olympic Council, as well as Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong.

Besides a buffet of local treats to enjoy, there was also a photo booth for athletes, booths for athletes to have their caricatures drawn, and even a live music performance by discus thrower Hannah Lee and sprinter Calvin Kang.

Mr Wong also performed a rendition of Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight on the guitar with local acoustic band HubbaBubbas.

He said in his address to the athletes and officials: "This night is for you. We had a truly memorable and inspiring Games. Many of you went beyond your limits and you rallied our whole nation together. That was a very special moment for us.

"We want to honour all our athletes and appreciate all of you."
