SINGAPORE - Tanjong Katong Secondary School might have just received its sweetest 60th birthday present yet, with the girls' C division floorball team retaining their title on Wednesday (Aug 31) afternoon.

It was a familiar sight in Yishun Sports Hall as TKSS met St. Margaret's Secondary School in the final for the second year running, and the former managed to restage their success with a 7-3 triumph.

SMSS started strongly and opened the scoring. But TKSS went on a five-goal run, three of which were scored by Secondary 2 student Glenna Tan.

"I stayed focused, and didn't want to get distracted by the (supporters') screaming," said Glenna, who secured four of TKSS' goals overall.

"I wanted to make my seniors proud. I did it for my team, and for my parents as well."

It was a strong season for TKSS, who remained undefeated in 11 matches.

"We went all out for this match," said TKSS captain Foo Wen Xin.

"Before the match, I told my team to remain brave. They were scared that they may stumble, but we were also scared of losing the title."

In the boys' final, Catholic High School edged out Northbrooks Secondary School 3-2 to secure their maiden C division title.

Forward Austin Teo delivered the winner in the last five minutes of the game.

"I was over the moon," said the Secondary 2 student, who has been playing floorball for the last six years. "The feeling cannot be described simply in words.

"It definitely was a once in a lifetime opportunity and it was the best moment of our journey together as a team."
