SINGAPORE - Raffles Institution (RI) retained their A division netball title after beating Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) 55-32 in the final held at Toa Payoh Sports Hall on Thursday (25 May).

Both teams were unbeaten en route to the final. RI defeated 2016 finalists Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) 72-43 in the semi-finals, while ACJC beat River Valley High (RVHS) 42-25.

ACJC opened the scoring with two goals in quick succession, but RI wrest back control of the game within the first quarter, ending the period with a 13-8 lead.

The girls in green and white demonstrated their superiority through quick movement and smooth passing, and managed to widen their lead with each quarter.

ACJC's efforts to stage a comeback were unsuccessful, as they struggled to create chances in the face of constant RI pressure.

Despite the loss, ACJC captain Rindy Lok,18, praised her team's gallant performance: "We put up a very good fight. Everyone really persevered through (the game)."

In the third-place play-off held earlier, HCI beat RVHS 49-39 to take the bronze.
