School sports: Favourites ACS(I) too strong for Outram in B Division water polo final

SINGAPORE - Fancied Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) added another National Inter-School Water Polo B division crown to their trophy cabinet, by beating Outram Secondary School 5-3 at the Co-Curricular Activities Branch swimming complex on Wednesday afternoon.

ACS(I) had won four of the previous six titles and were the hot favourites going into the game, especially after thrashing Outram in their preliminary-round tie 12-5 just 13 days ago.

ACS(I) started strongly and stormed to a 3-0 lead after the first quarter with goals from Sean Sng, Joshua Ong and Joseph Cheng.

While Outram recovered and pulled a goal back in the second quarter, their opponents kept their hold and led 5-2 going into the last quarter.

Still, the underdogs battled on and Lum Jing Hao pulled a goal back in the final quarter.

But despite the late pressure, ACS(I) managed to hold on for their fifth title in seven years.
