Athletics: No records set in National Inter-School shot put finals

Hwa Chong Institution won the A Division boys' event, as thundery showers threatened to delay the shot put finals at the National Inter-School Track and Field Championships, even though they managed to get under way with minimal delay.

Yet, despite taking top spot, Caleb Hoe, 18, who threw 15.27m, was disappointed with his performance as he had aimed for at least 16m.

His schoolmate Kendrick Sinatra Hardy was second in 14.94m while Raffles Institution's Tan Ting Jun was third in 13.91m.

RI had dominated in the earlier C boys final, with a clean sweep of the medals.

The day rounded off with the C girls final, with Joleen Ho (11.49m) from Cedar Girls' Secondary School narrowly beating her Nanyang Girls' High School rival by 9cm.

None of the winning distances were Inter School National records.

Winners - C Div girls: Joleen Ho, Cedar Girls' 11.49m

C Div boys: Matthew Lee, RI 12.69m

A Div boys: Caleb Hoe, HCI 15.27m
