The quintent of James Koh, Samuel Neo, Isaac Tang and brothers Ryan Kwok and Raynn Kwok won the team racing silver for Singapore at the Optimist World Championships in Argentina on Sunday.
After the initial 38-country fleet was whittled down, it was left to Singapore and Thailand to battle for the team racing crown in the final.
The Republic started well and claimed the first race but Thailand bounced back to win the following two races, and the title.
The defeat meant that there was no fourth consecutive team crown for Singapore, following wins in 2011, 2012 and 2013. But it ensured a proud tradition for SingaporeSailing, which has been on the podium at every Optimist World Championships since 2006.
Singapore could still win more honours in the ongoing individual racing.
