Sailing: Singapore snatch team gold back from Thailand at Optimist World Championships

Singapore's optimist sailors exorcised the ghosts of last year when they beat Thailand to the team racing gold at the Optimist World Championships in Poland on Thursday (Sept 3).

The Singapore team - comprising James Koh, Daniel Hung, Koh Yi Nian, Jodie Lai and Muhammad Daniel Kei Yazid - emerged victorious after winning the first race in the best-of-three final.

The race committee called off racing after one race due to the lack of wind, and the gold was awarded to Singapore.

The match-up was a repeat of last year's final, except with a different result. Last October, Singapore won the first race, but Thailand bounced back with two wins to end Singapore's golden streak. The Republic had won in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
