Rugby: Fiji Airways signs on as official airline for the HSBC World Rugby Singapore Sevens

SINGAPORE - Rugby Singapore announced on Monday that it has signed on Fiji Airways at the official airline for the HSBC World Rugby Singapore Sevens.

The April 16-17 Singapore Sevens will be held at the National Stadium and is the eighth of 10 legs of the prestigious Seven Series, which features the top 16 rugby nations.

Fiji Airways will also launch its maiden flight to Singapore on April 5 and it is estimated that between 500 and 1,000 Fijian supporters will travel to the Republic to watch the Singapore Sevens.

The three-year deal sponsorship deal between Fiji Airways and the Singapore Rugby Union is in cash and kind.

It will also see the Fijian team, who are the defending Sevens champions, remain in the Republic for two days after the Singapore leg.

They will conduct coaching and training clinics for the senior and junior national teams.

Said SRU president Low Teo Ping: "This is an exciting partnership and there are lots of promosing opportunities that will benefit local rugby."
