On the same day that the traditional boat race between Oxford and Cambridge universities was held on the River Thames in London, the Marina Bay also saw rowing action on Saturday, as alumni members from the two universities also participated in the local edition of the race.
The Singapore event featured four races - mixed crew, men's, women's and a race between an Oxbridge XIII and Easter rowing club. Cambridge swept the first three races, before the Easter club emerged victorious over Oxbridge XIII.
In addition to the races, a carnival was held under Benjamin Sheares Bridge. The event also collected donations for the Children's Cancer Foundation.
Said Ng Yeau Chong, an alumnus from Oxford: "We hope to continue with this sport for a few years at least, and build the awareness of the tradition for our societies to have their fund collection with members and promote this sport at large."
