LIVERPOOL, United Kingdom (AFP) - Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has praised the immediate impact of the partnership between Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, who both scored in the 5-0 win over Norwich City.

Sturridge, 23, arrived from Chelsea in a 12 million pounds deal (S$23.4 million) earlier this month and is just the seventh player in Liverpool history to score in each of his first three games for the club.

The England international also set up Suarez's 20th goal of the campaign with a neat dummy as the two combined impressively.

When Sturridge arrived, Rodgers faced questions about how he would accommodate the two players, but Suarez is thriving in a deeper role that gives him the freedom to roam.

"Luis did what he's done for us all season - he gives 100 per cent in every game and he combines really well with Daniel up front," said Rodgers.

"We had a real fluidity in our movement at the top end of the field because they're both players who aren't just static.

"Daniel's got pace and power, but he's also clever and the flow was good.

Daniel gives the opponent someone else to really worry about.

"Suarez has been incredible for us and had some young players up there with him, but he's now got a recognised goal-scorer up there alongside him.

"I've seen it in training in the early parts since they've been here and the combination has been really good." Spain international Pepe Reina, who underwent surgery on a broken nose on Friday, missed Saturday's win over Norwich with a thigh problem.

Rodgers admits the goalkeeper is doubtful for next weekend's FA Cup fourth-round trip to Oldham Athletic.

The Liverpool manager said: "He had a thigh problem before the game last week and played, and on assessment it got worse.

"He also broke his nose so he had an operation to fix his nose on Friday, so we'll see how he is next week and review it from there." Veteran defender Jamie Carragher featured from the start against the Canaries in his first league start since the 1-1 draw with Chelsea in November.

The former England international, who turns 35 later this month, is closing on his 500th league appearance for the club and Rodgers believes he still has a significant influence.

Rodgers, who refused to comment on reports linking the club with Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder, said: "Jamie hasn't put a foot wrong for me since I've been in here. He's been absolutely brilliant.

"He hasn't played as often as he would have liked. He's played in a lot of the cup games and I can't remember him making a mistake since I've been here.

We're a quiet team and he's a great organiser.

"Him coming in alongside Daniel Agger, who has been brilliant, would give us that bit of extra leadership in there." Jordan Henderson's powerful strike put Liverpool ahead before goals from Suarez and Sturridge opened up a three-goal lead.

Steven Gerrard thumped in a fourth and Ryan Bennett's own goal completed the scoring as Chris Hughton's visiting side slipped to a fifth defeat in six matches.

The Norwich manager has confirmed the club have made offers for Swansea City's Danny Graham and Celtic striker Gary Hooper and he is keen for new faces to arrive this month.

"Numbers-wise, the squad is OK, but if there is the opportunity to add quality then we will look for that opportunity and we've worked hard to do that," he said.

"We've made bids for two players and those players aren't ours, they belong to other clubs and they will have the bigger say in whether there is any more mileage in that."
